Why Choose Rehab in Tyne and Wear?
Tyne and Wear is so-named after the two rivers Tyne and Wear. This metropolitan area in North West England has a high standard of living with its own castle. It’s also home to the Angel of the North and the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art.
Your recovery will include excursions to places like these because we believe freedom forms an important aspect of healing the mind. Tyne and Wear also has excellent transport links to Northern England and is backed by the coast.
Our rehab centres in Tyne and Wear have a proven track record for helping people overcome addiction. We also offer immediate admission and can arrange transport, so you get here safely. All you have to do is get in touch.
Inpatient and Outpatient Rehab Programmes
You can undergo a recovery programme as an inpatient or outpatient. Which is best for you depends on a range of factors including the severity of your addiction and your financial situation.
Inpatient rehab
Inpatient rehab is what you probably think of when you hear the word rehab. This is when you stay in clinic accommodation for your detox and take part in a comprehensive recovery programme under the supervision of nurses. This is the safest type of rehab and it is also the most successful. It’s best for medium to high risk patients.
Outpatient rehab
Outpatient rehab is a lighter form of rehab. This involves performing a home detox. The benefit is it is cheaper than inpatient care. However, the risk of relapse is far greater, and the success rate is lower. The level of support you receive will also be lesser. It’s only recommendable for low risk patients.
Which is best?
Inpatient rehab is always first choice for drug and alcohol treatment. If you need a prescription drug detox or you are at a low risk of relapse, outpatient rehab may be suitable for you.
To find out which type of rehab is best for you, call us on 0800 118 2892 and one of our helpful people will discuss this with you.

What Does Rehab Involve?
Breaking free from addiction is nearly impossible to achieve alone. Rehab involves taking part in a recovery programme designed to treat the physical and behavioural sides of your addiction, to get your withdrawal symptoms and triggers under control.
To do this, we need to understand the true extent of your addiction, so the first stage of rehab is attending a clinical assessment. This will assess your physical and mental health and the findings will be used to create your recovery programme.
Your recovery programme will be created by your clinic. It will include a medicated detox, therapy and ongoing support.
Detox
This is the most controversial stage of rehab. During your detox, you will abstain from the substances you are addicted to.
You will be supervised throughout your alcohol or drug detox in Tyne and Wear by our nurses, and your symptoms will be managed with medication. Your detox will last anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.
Your detox will be the hardest stage of your recovery, but our nurses and support workers will be there to care for you and make sure you get through it.
Therapy
Therapy and counselling aims to resolve the triggers that make you drink or use and the behavioural habits that foster addiction.
This is also a good opportunity for us to treat any associated mental health problems like anxiety, depression, PTSD and OCD.
Therapy will be introduced during your detox to complement your physical treatment. Two common therapies are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
Continued abstinence
Ongoing help and support is always necessary to beat addiction for good. All our patients receive one years’ free aftercare, and our rehab clinics will ensure you have access to a local drug support network.
You may also benefit from extra therapy and a peer mentor or sponsor. We can arrange these for you to support you in the future.
With help, support and understanding, we know you can beat your addiction – but you need to pick up the phone and take the next step to do it.
