How does rehab work?
Once you are admitted into clinic accommodation, your rehab programme will start the same day.
Your initial assessment will take into account your age, circumstances, physical and mental health and any pre-existing medical conditions.
The first stage of rehab is always the detox stage. This is when you abstain from the substances you are addicted to for as long as it takes for them to leave your body. This is the hardest stage of rehab, but you will be prescribed withdrawal medication to help ease your symptoms. You may also choose to take part in social activities with other patients. This can help take your mind off things and provide an escape.
A detox can last anywhere from a few weeks to several months. After the initial abstention, you will be on withdrawal medication and weaned off it slowly until you are clean.

Rehab and Mental Health
During the detox and afterwards, you will take part in therapy sessions and counselling to help you overcome your mental battles. The most common therapies are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). These have an excellent track record for helping people overcome addiction.
