Gifts, Gratuities and Bequests

We recognise that on occasion Clients and/or their families wish to express their gratitude to staff at the end of their treatment.

We recognise that it would be rude and disrespectful to refuse these offers of gratitude.

With this in mind, the Management Team have decided that it is acceptable for the following gifts to be accepted from Clients and their families:

  • Small bunches of flowers.
  • Box of chocolates.
  • Thank you cards.

It is not permissible for individual staff to accept personal gifts from Clients and/or their relatives.

Should a Client or relative of a Client attempt to offer an individual staff member a gift, the staff member must report this to their line manager or senior person on duty immediately. The situation can then be dealt with in a tactful, respectful manner.

Should a family wish to bequest a gift of money, they should firstly be referred to a member of the Management Team.

Serenity Health are in the process of setting up a charity “ STEPS” to enable those less fortunate to be able to access treatment and recovery.
