Gay and Lesbian Rehab Clinics
For some gay and lesbians, it can be a scary journey on the path of recovering from addiction. Gay rehabilitation clinics and treatment centres usually offer a programme which will teach the gay or lesbian addict a new way of life and structure built on a day to day basis.
Some treatment centres offer gay sober living houses especially for any gay or lesbian coming out of their rehabilitation programme and settling back into a community.

Rehab clinics and treatment centres offer various types of rehabilitation programmes. These programmes focus on issues such as drug, alcohol, eating disorders and other life issues which are usually found underlying the addicts problem with addiction.
For gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender addicts it can be even more difficult to enter a rehabilitation clinic or treatment centre for fear of how others will react towards their sexuality. This can prove to have detrimental effects on the addict’s already low confidence and low self esteem.
Most gay and lesbian addicts use drugs, alcohol, gambling, eating, sex etc to make themselves feel better and not deal with the shame and guilt of things that have happened or are happening in their lives.
Dealing With Pressures
For some gay addicts, the fact that they feel they cannot be open about their sexuality or admit their sexuality to friends and family can add an enormous amount of pressure to their already low confidence and can often feel so guilty and ashamed that they will readily turn to alcohol or drug or some other form of addiction.
